Pages 1025-1034 | Published online: 14 Dec 2006

Abstract

Sexual dysfunctions, including but not limited to erectile dysfunction, are common in the aging male, particularly in the setting of diabetes. After reviewing some of the general issues that may lead to sexual dysfunction in the elderly, this review focuses on clinically relevant studies that have been conducted in diabetic men. Specifically, the review addresses the role of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors, intracavernosal injections, vacuum devices and penile prosthesis in the diabetic population, as well as discussing ejaculatory problems.
