Abstract
Since the educational reform came to a standstill — failed, say some — the need has arisen to draw up a balance sheet. Whether that juncture (1973-74) which has rightfully been called a turning point provided the major impetus; whether justice requires the admission that the reform one supported was inadequate, however necessary it might have been; or whether the balance sheet is accompanied by a triumphant gesture of "I told you so" on the part of those who had always been against the reform — all the flaws and risks of too short a period of observation must still be taken into account.
