Education and the Process of Emancipation of Western European Women

Pages 3-5 | Published online: 18 Dec 2014

Abstract

The role and status of women is continuing to be subjected to scrutiny in Western Europe just as it is in the United States. Related to that issue is the question of the appropriateness of the education available to women. A comparative perspective reveals both the extent of change being achieved by some women in Western Europe as well as the force of once respected traditions which others there, male and often female, are reluctant to abandon.
