Abstract
This article is part of the debate on the existence of an adolescent culture that goes beyond classes; it attempts to identify the lycée (upper secondary school) culture and to define its relations with classical cultures, mass cultures, or class cultures. The report is based on the results of a national survey into the cultural behavior of lycée students in the light of a comparison with, on the one hand, the practices of the totality of the adult French population, and on the other with that of fifteen- to nineteen-year-olds not in school; the analyses show an internal diversity within the lycée population since both the most classic and elitist model as well as the most popular model coexist.
