Abstract
This paper sets forth qualitative and quantitave indicators of hierarchy as presumably experienced by members of a drug-free program. We argue that the staffs expectations concerning such hierarchy and its role in rehabilitation may be given an objective rendering without necessarily distorting members' views or treating them as merely reflections of the staff's.
