The Near-Death Experience and Spiritual Health

Pages 179-184 | Received 20 Aug 1986, Accepted 28 Jan 1987, Published online: 06 Jul 2009

Abstract

Criticism of conventional definition of health. Implications of philosophy of doubt. Loss of certainty about the nature and destiny of man. States of the NDE. Two elements with implications for spiritual health: the life review and the experience of mystical atonement. After-effects of the NDE: enhanced appreciation of life, greater sympathy for others, sense of the inner presence of the Divine. Application of wholeness and harmony to everyday life.
