Abstract
Although apparently successful clinically, the mechanism(s) of electro-osteogenesis is still unknown. It is clear that the electromechanical effects in bone may be an important factor affecting bone remodeling processes. Identification of the mechanism for the electromechanical response may be helpful in the understanding of how electrical stimulation affects fracture healing. In this review, we attempt to summarize the published data on the electromechanical properties of bone.
