Tamara T. Butler

Tamara T. Butler is a vintage clothing enthusiast, plant mom, and educator who draws upon lessons learned growing up on Johns Island, South Carolina. Currently, she serves as the executive director of the College of Charleston’s Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture and as the associate dean of strategic planning and community engagement for the College of Charleston Libraries. She writes about critical youth organizing literacies, Black girlhood, and Black women’s storytelling. She also serves on the Community Board of Equity & Excellence in Education.
