ABSTRACT
This article discusses the identifying traits of Generation Z and how those traits manifest in the college composition class. The author shares her recent efforts to meet students where they are by validating their compositional interests. The result? Increased creative agency and decreased grade anxiety. Included are assignments using technology, rubrics that allow for self-discovery, how-tos for providing helpful feedback, and examples of student learning goals, objectives, and outcomes that seek to take the subjectivity out of grading.
