The governance of sport from a Scandinavian perspective

Notes

1. First of all, we have reserved this project as a ‘Scandinavian project’. Initially, we invited 12 different Scandinavian researchers that we believed could contribute substantially to a special issue on sport governance in Scandinavia. Most of them were ‘veterans’, but one or two are more or less ‘rookies’. After 2 weeks, two of those invited declared, unfortunately, that they were too busy to participate in this project. Still, we received 10 outlines and decided that eight of them would be appropriate, both individually and in a comprehensive issue. Since that, our strategy and procedure have been similar to what was used, efficiently and advantageously, in the production of three earlier special issues, one on Scandinavian football (Andersson and Carlsson Citation2009), the second on directions in future sport (Carlsson and Jönsson Citation2010) and the third on centres and peripheries in football (Andersson and Carlsson Citation2011). At the end of this review process, we received and accepted seven articles, which are presented in this special issue.
