Evidence Matters: Strategies for Ensuring Rigour in Designing, Doing, and Publishing Qualitative Research

Pages 149-153 | Published online: 03 Apr 2024

Abstract

Qualitative research is gaining momentum in speech pathology research. Qualitative research complements quantitative research and advances our understanding of communication disorders and practices by amplifying the perspectives of individuals with communication disorders, their families/carers, and those working with them. It is important that researchers use and report on strategies to ensure rigour when conducting and reporting qualitative research. In this paper, we discuss strategies that qualitative researchers can use in the design, doing, and publishing phases of research to enhance rigour.
