Changes in biochemical parameters in dialysis patients during treatment with phosphate binders i.e. SH and LC: (a) a significant reduction in serum phosphate levels was observed in LC treated patients (p < 0.001); (b) an improvement in bicarbonate levels was observed after switching to LC (p = 0.020); (c) pill burden significantly reduced after switching over to LC (p < 0.00001), (SH one tablet = 800 mg, LH one tablet = 1,000 mg).
