Pages 145-152 | Published online: 20 Sep 2011

Abstract

This report describes the initial phases in the treatment of a severely disturbed 17 year-old adolescent boy, utilizing hypnosis in an atypical form in order to engage the patient in therapy and develop an understanding of the interpersonal aspects of his difficulties. The findings of recent experimental investigations into the nature of hypnosis were applied to the clinical situation and had a number of positive results, including a strengthening of the patient's relation to reality.
