CORRIGENDUM

This article refers to:
Fluctuations in the abundance of ammonia oxidizers and the contents of inorganic nitrogen in solarized soil

Yamagata M, Shinohara Y, Maesaka M, Murase J, Asakawa S 2017: Fluctuations in the abundance of ammonia oxidizers and the contents of inorganic nitrogen in solarized soil. Soil Sci. Plant Nutr. 63(5), 434–440. doi:10.1080/00380768.2017.1368035

The graphs for the plots Sb and Sa in on page 436 were wrong and the other way round. The lines for the plots Sb and Sa in on page 438 were wrong and the other way round.

The corrected and are shown at the end of this corrigendum.

Figure 1. Abundance of copy numbers of amoA gene of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria and archaea, viable number of ammonia oxidizers, and contents of ammonium and nitrate-nitrogen in solarized soils in the plots of Miyazaki. Open circles, open diamonds, closed circles, open triangles, and open squares indicate copy numbers of amoA of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria, ammonia-oxidizing archaea, viable number of ammonia oxidizers, contents of ammonium- and nitrate-nitrogen, respectively. Bars show standard errors of triplicate plots. Numbers marked with # are below the detection limit of most probable number method (about 36 cells g−1 of moist soil).

Figure 3. Proportion of nitrate in inorganic nitrogen content in solarized soils in the plots of Miyazaki (a) and the beds at 0–5 cm soil depth of Nagoya University Farm (b). Circles, triangles, and squares denote plots Sb, Sa, and NS (a) and beds A, B, and C (b), respectively. Bars show standard errors of triplicate plots of Miyazaki (a).

According to the above corrections, modifications have been made to descriptions in the Results and Discussion sections as follows:

On page 436, line 15 from the top in the right column under the headline “3.2.1. Copy number of bacterial amoA gene”: “the plot Sa” should read “the plot Sb”.

On page 437, line 11 from the bottom in the right column under the headline “3.2.3. Viable number of ammonia oxidizer (MPN)”: “[plot Sa]” and “[plot Sb and NS]” should read “[plot Sb]” and “[plot Sa and NS]”, respectively.

On page 438, line 13 from the bottom in the left column under the headline “ 3.3. Inorganic N content in soil”: “plot Sa” should read “plot Sb”; line 12 from the bottom in the left column under the same headline: “plot Sb” should read “plot Sa”; line 7 from the bottom in the left column under the same headline: “in the plot Sa” should read “in the plot Sb”.

On page 439, line 12 from the top in the left column in the fifth paragraph of the Discussion: “in the plot Sb” should read “in the plot Sa”; line 15 from the top in the left column in the same paragraph: “in the plot Sb” should read “in the plot Sa”; line 16 from the top in the left column in the same paragraph: “with the plot Sa” should read “with the plot Sb”.

These corrections and modifications do not influence the conclusions of this study.

The authors would like to apologize for these corrections and any inconvenience caused.
