Abstract
In the recent years, transdermal drug delivery system (TDDS) has gained a lot of success for drug delivery. Transdermal patches have been utilized for delivering the drugs via TDDS. These patches deliver drugs in dissolve lipid form, that enables them to have desired efficiency. Recent advancement in transdermal patches has resulted in formation of novel transdermal patches such as smart patches, degradable, dimensional (3D)-printed patches and release patches, etc. These patches have been utilized in vaccines, gene therapy, insulin delivery, hormonal deficiencies, cardiovascular diseases, etc. This review summarizes the recent advancements in transdermal patches as well as its latest applications.
