The ACID Test ‐ Or Is It?

Pages 2-8 | Published online: 19 Oct 2007

Summary

The professional and research bases for the use of the ACID (Arithmetic, Coding, Information, Digit Span) profile in the identification and assessment of pupils who have specific learning difficulties (SpLD) are critically reviewed. The statements made about the ACID profile in the Hillingdon judgment are examined in relation to the available research evidence. Implications are drawn for professionally defensible practice by educational psychologists.
