ABSTRACT
We have investigated a fabrication process of in-plane switching liquid crystal (IPS-LC) cells using a patterned printing electrodes and file groove structures. Using a mould made with polydimethylsiloxane as a stamper, patterned electrodes by a conductive material of silver nanoparticle, with reverse-patterned electrodes of line and spacing (L/S) width of 10 μm, was fabricated. From transmittance vs voltage characteristics, the obtained contrast ratio was 103:1 and the threshold voltage was 3.1 V. By combining the R-μCP method and nano-imprint lithography with 200 nm L/S nano V-groove as an alignment layer of liquid crystal molecules, the IPS-LC cell was also fabricated and realised.
