Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of computer strategy games to develop understanding and enjoyment, as well as embedding knowledge, of History in Key Stage 2. The evidence showed that children's enthusiasm and enjoyment of History learning was greatly improved through the use of the computer game, although both types of activities failed to demonstrate any significant improvement of factual knowledge. The study recommends that schools should be encouraged to use computer strategy games as learning resources for Key Stage 2 History.
