Pages 801-807 | Published online: 10 Aug 2015

Notes

1. LGBTQ refers to lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*3, queer.

2. At the time of the symposium, the IOE, University of London, had just merged with UCL, and had become the UCL IOE.

3. The asterisk on the end of the word ‘trans’ serves as a placeholder for any words which might follow it (e.g., *masculine or *gender). It may also be used to speak about identities that do not start with the prefix ‘trans’ but are spoken about within a trans* ‘umbrella’ (such as genderqueer or non-binary).

4. Z Nicolazzo is now Assistant Professor at Northern Illinois University, Illinois, USA.

5. The Bloomsbury Doctoral Training Centre for the Social Sciences (DTC), funded by the ESRC, UK, provides funding for its PhD studentship holders upon successful application to organise interdisciplinary events.

6. Funding sources that enabled panelists to attend: University of Auckland and the Asia:NZ Foundation (James Burford), Glasgow School of Art (Vicky Gunn) and the Fran Trust, Foundation Scotland (Emily Henderson).
