PROMOTE POSITIVE COGNITIVE AND AFFECTIVE OUTCOMES FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS: INTEGRATE COMPUTERS IN THE SOCIAL STUDIES CURRICULUM

Abstract

Infusing computer‐using teaching strategies into social studies curricula will foster achievement of important social studies goals and help learning disabled students achieve positive cognitive and affective outcomes related to social studies instruction. Suggestions for infusion of computer strategies are related to important social studies goals and learning characteristics of learning disabled students. Guidelines also are provided to assist the teacher in choosing computer tools and developing appropriate teaching strategies for use with this target population.
