Pages 203-220 | Received 02 Feb 2011, Accepted 02 Mar 2012, Published online: 17 May 2012

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate the behavioral aspects of cell phone use among young people in Finland. Of particular interest is the issue of gender differences. Significant differences between genders regarding the behavioral factors and specific behaviors were identified in 3 out of 6 behavioral factors and in 14 out of 30 specific behaviors. The factor formation between the genders was also investigated. The same factors emerged for both genders, but there were differences in the variable loadings. Finally, a cluster analysis was performed within each gender in order to discover distinct and unique user groups on the basis of the differences in the behavioral variables.
