Acknowledgements
This special issue draws mainly on the subset of innovation focused papers presented at an international conference at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth (2012)—Networks and Flows in Economic Space. The conference was organized by the Department of Geography, as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations. The conference brought together a dozen global leaders in the fields of Economic Geography and Economics. The guest editors would like to thank the participants of the conference for their comments that helped shape the articles in this special issue.
