Characterization and in vitro experiments of composite membrane materials that polydopamine-loaded on the surface of collagen modified by a novel nanomaterial graphene oxide

Abstract

Collagen (COL) membrane possesses poor mechanical properties and low surface hydrophilicity. In this paper, COL films were modified by graphene oxide (GO) and polydopamine (PDA), the COL–GO–PDA composite films were prepared. The interaction between the surface self-assembled PDA and the COL membrane modified with different concentrations of GO was studied. Membranes were studied systematically by Attenuated Total Reflectance-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) and mechanical properties. Besides the structural integrity was studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal stability including differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TG). The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and surface water contact angle (WCA) were studied for surface condition and hydrophilicity of the material. In addition, the biological evaluation was carried out in vivo by MTT assay.
