Scaling group analysis of a Magnetohydrodynamic Nanofluid flow with Double dispersion and Dufour effects on a vertical wedge

Abstract

Mixed convection in nanofluids for varying geometries such as vertical sheets, exponentially stretching sheets etc. contributes to various fields of science and technology. Based on a wide range of applications of Dufour effects, double dispersion effects and magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flows in engineering fields, our study focuses on the combined effects of mixed convection flow on a vertical wedge with Buongiorno model which has not been studied earlier. Similarity transformations have been utilized for transforming nonlinear partial differential equations. Lie scaling group has been adopted in our study for obtaining the required similarity transformations and the final set of equations has been solved numerically using MATLAB bvp4c routine. Skin friction coefficient, heat transfer and mass transfer coefficients have been put forward numerically for quantities like magnetic parameter, Solutal dispersion parameter, Lewis number, thermophoresis parameter, Brownian motion parameter, mixed convection parameter, thermal dispersion parameter and Dufour parameter. Increase in Sherwood number and decreasing Nusselt number values have been noted for increasing Dufour (Df) and magnetic parameter (M) values. Comparative studies have been made with previously published results and the results are found to be in good agreement. This validates our study.
