We recently received the publishing report for Journal of Aquatic Food Product Technology for the year 2020 from our publisher. The short conclusion is that the Journal is read more, the papers are downloaded more, and they receive more citations. The new impact factor for 2020 is now 1.767, quite a big step up from last year (1.020) and continuing the increase since 2016. This is not bad for a highly specialized journal within a field not too overpopulated with scientists and large research grants. Kudos to the four authors from FAO, Italy, and the Artic University of Norway for writing our most downloaded paper (4040 downloads so far), Microplastics in Fish and Shellfish – A Threat to Seafood Safety (https://doi.org/10.1080/10498850.2020.1739793).
It is also nice to note that the publishing time is still low. On average, a paper is published within three weeks after final acceptance. The acceptance rate for 2020 was 30%, similar to the previous years, but we have received more submissions and thus also published slightly more papers. However, as much as 70% of the submissions are rejected. We still believe in a critical peer-review of all papers before acceptance. Often, manuscripts undergo at least two revisions to reach this state, ensuring that only high-quality papers providing new insights and novelty within the scope of the Journal are published. Without our excellent board of receiving editors and reviewers willing to contribute their valuable time, this would not be possible. Thank you all.
Hopefully, this issue gives the reader some new knowledge to the field of aquatic food product technology.
