The gender gap in executive pay: insights from quantile regression

Published online: 19 Jun 2024

ABSTRACT

This study investigates the gender wage gap among executives in S&P 1500 companies in the United States from 1992 to 2020, employing Quantile Regression (QR). Our findings reveal significant heterogeneity in the gender wage gap across earnings quantiles, with more pronounced disparities in earlier decades. The analysis advances understanding of the temporal dynamics of the wage gap, contributing specifically to the literature on executive compensation equity.
