David Palfreyman is the Director of the Oxford Centre for Higher Education Policy Studies, New College, University of Oxford (oxcheps.new.ox.ac.uk). His publications include: ‘The Oxford Tutorial’ (2008, second edition; Peking University Press Chinese edition, 2010); ‘Structuring Mass Higher Education: The Role of Elite Institutions’ (2008); ‘The Collegial Tradition in the Age of Mass Higher Education’ (2010); ‘Oxford: The Collegiate University’ (2011); ‘London’s Livery Companies’ (2010); ‘London’s Inns of Court’ (2011); and ‘The Law of Higher Education’ (2012, Oxford University Press; second edition). His most recent publication (with Ted Tapper) ‘Reshaping the University: The Rise of the Regulated Market in Higher Education’ (Oxford University Press, 2014). The projected 25-volume comparative Series ‘International Studies in Higher Education’ (Routledge/Taylor&Francis) is edited from OxCHEPS by David Palfreyman, Ted Tapper, and Scott Thomas. David is the Honorary Treasurer and a Trustee of the Society for Research into Higher Education (SRHE), and is a Trustee of the Harpur Trust (aka the Bedford Charity).
