The implementation of the programme resulted in the provision of 8 billion LPG connections, leading to a significant increase in LPG coverage from 62 per cent on May 1, 2016, to 99.8 per cent on April 1, 2021. The programme has provided benefits to a significant number of households in many states of India. Specifically, Uttar Pradesh has seen benefits reaching over 1.46 crore families classified as Below Poverty Line (BPL), while West Bengal has witnessed benefits reaching 88 lakh BPL families. Similarly, Bihar has recorded benefits reaching 85 lakh BPL families, Madhya Pradesh has seen benefits reaching 71 lakh BPL families, and Rajasthan has witnessed benefits reaching 63 lakh BPL families. As of March 1, 2023, the total number of connections disbursed under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) amounted to 9.59 crore. As of March 2023, the number of active domestic LPG customers was at 31.4 crore, indicating a significant increase from the figure of 14.52 crore recorded in April 2014.69

By July 2019, the implementation of the programme had resulted in 254 projects including 134 Protective and Rehabilitative Homes in the country. The number of beneficiaries was 5,291. Maharashtra led with the highest number of total projects (50) and Ujjawala Homes (23), alongside the most beneficiaries (1150), while Andhra Pradesh had only four projects. Assam followed closely behind Maharashtra with 32 total projects and 607 beneficiaries, but fewer Ujjawala Homes (19). In contrast, Manipur boasted a considerable number of beneficiaries (950) despite having only 20 total projects and 19 Ujjawala Homes.69
