ABSTRACT
Translation has played a crucial role in news production, in spite of which research from the perspective of journalism studies is rare. This article starts with a brief overview of the research conducted in translation studies. The next two sections discuss the conceptualization of “translation” in the two disciplines and highlight the historical importance of translation in news production respectively. The topic of “conflict” is discussed in the next section as an example of the importance of translation in news production and dissemination. Finally, the paper considers possible interdisciplinary research areas between translation and journalism studies focusing on theoretical and methodological issues.
