La creación de un nuevo espacio: se buscan profesores de español y educación bilingüe comprometidos

SINOPSIS

Desde el inicio de la educación bilingüe el español académico de algunos de los maestros bilingües no ha estado al nivel necesario para funcionar como tales. Los profesores de español y educación bilingüe, incluyendo los administradores, no han logrado trabajar en conjunto por décadas, y son los responsables de esta problemática. En base al análisis que se llevará a cabo sobre los Discursos de ambos grupos, se afirma que la falta de concientización y de compromiso ha provocado que los primeros no hayan diseñado ni cursos específicos ni una especialización para dicha población estudiantil, y los segundos no hayan publicado textos en español vitales para entrenarlos. Estos dos espacios académicos nunca han funcionado como es necesario en la meta deseada, por lo que se propone una nueva dirección y un nuevo espacio para la preparación exitosa de los futuros maestros bilingües.

ABSTRACT

Since the onset of bilingual education the Spanish academic register of some bilingual education teachers has fallen short of meeting the desired purpose. Spanish and bilingual education professors and administrators have failed to work jointly for nearly five decades and they are responsable for this shortcoming. Based on the analysis of their respective Discourses the former group has lacked in both their critical consciousness and commitment to bilingual education resulting in failing to design the necessary Spanish for specific purposes courses for the prospective bilingual education teachers. The latter, in contrast, have been remiss in teaching and especially publishing academic texts in Spanish a vital tool for the preparation of the population in question. Consequently, a new direction and space is proposed to better prepare bilingual education teachers.
