Notes

The original members of the Caucus were Polly Attwood, Stephen Carpenter, Rubén Gaztambide-Fernández, Kirsten Edwards, Zahra Murad, Aliya Rahman, Cole Reilly, and Kris Sloan. The members of the Caucus were involved in some way in the evolution of the ideas presented in this introduction. As a group, we debated over language, and in the process we have collectively began to develop a set of ideas for thinking about, through, and against the notion of Browning. The authors thank these marvelous and committed scholars for engaging in these discussions and for pushing against its own logic, as well as engaging in a conversation about strategies for expanding and moving the discussion forward.
