The introduction of the last education act in Spain has changed the procedure for becoming a headteacher, and preservice training will be increasingly required. Given the need to design a training program for headteachers, this article contains a qualitative study in which ten headteachers working in secondary schools and a government training adviser were interviewed. The purpose was to inquire about the kind of training headteachers currently require, what areas should be addressed, and what design their training programs should have.
