ABSTRACT
This correspondence discusses on effect of COVID-19 vaccination on epileptic seizures in patients with epilepsy. Confounding factors might be possible and might affect the outcome of the study.

Dear Editor, we would like to share ideas on the publication “The effect of COVID-19 vaccination on epileptic seizures in patients with epilepsy: A clinical observation in China.Citation1 ” This observational retrospective study examined the safety of vaccination by examining changes in epileptic seizures and their influencing factors in patients with epilepsy (PWE) in China who had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.Citation1 According to Huang et al., the vaccination itself is not a significant contributing factor, but incorrect antiseizure drug use and disturbed sleep patterns may be linked to an increase in seizures following immunization.Citation1 It is challenging to determine the precise clinical association because there is a dearth of data on the health and immunological status of vaccination recipients prior to inoculation. If people are given misleading information, they may react negatively to immunizations and lose faith in them. The issue could be brought on by the patient’s comorbidities.Citation2 Despite their evident clinical condition, the patient could still have additional co-morbid disorders. Any further aggravating circumstances must be checked out before concluding that an adverse event linked to a vaccine occurred. In a sample of people with known immunological histories and medical problems, the effectiveness of the COVID-19 immunization was evaluated. However, the safety of the PWE vaccine can be confirmed given that there is still a chance that confounding factors could cause a post-vaccination complication and that there is still a very low rate of post-vaccination adverse effects.
