In the above paper, several errors were made. These errors are listed below.

The reference assigned to the quotation on page 2 was incorrectly reproduced. This has now been corrected to:

Thomas, 2016, p. 141; see also Huth, 2013, p. 133

On page 18, a reference was incorrectly acknowledged. This has now been corrected to:

Koninkrijk der Nederlanden, 2016, Ch. 2, Art. 2.2; see also Vereniging De Detector Amateur, 2016

The author had incorrectly interpreted information from the Nationalmuseet Danmark (2016a) on page 13. The paragraph has now been updated to reflect examples of what is and is not danefæ.

An error was made in the calculation of the scale of detecting in the United States of America. A figure of 160,00 was obtained instead of 1,562,500. The tables and text throughout the article have been updated to account for this and the outcome of the article is not affected.

The author apologizes for these errors.
