El desarrollo de la competencia escrita a través de una enseñanza metacognitiva de la escritura

Development of written competence through metacognitive writing instruction

Resumen

Se analiza la eficacia de un enfoque de enseñanza de la composición escrita focalizado en la dimensión metacognitiva de la escritura, para el desarrollo de la competencia escrita de alumnos de 6° de Educación Primaria. La muestra la formaron 108 alumnos distribuidos en grupos experimental (N = 78) y control (N = 30). Como medidas de evaluación se utilizaron medidas globales de productividad, coherencia y estructura textual, además de medidas de conocimiento metacognitivo de la escritura y de auto-regulación. Los resultados confirman de manera general la eficacia de este tipo de enfoques instruccionales para la enseñanza de la escritura, manifestándose una mejoría significativamente mayor en el grupo experimental en la calidad global de los textos escritos, principalmente expositivos, y en el dominio metacognitivo en la escritura, principalmente en la auto-regulación.

Abstract

The study analyses the efficiency of a teaching approach of written composition focused on the metacognitive writing dimension for developing written competence in 6th grade Primary Spanish students. The sample were 108 students assigned to experimental (N=78) and control (N=30) groups. The assessment measurements employed evaluated 1) overall productivity, coherence and text structure, 2) writing and self-regulation metacognitive knowledge. In general, the results confirmed the efficiency of this type of instructional approaches for teaching writing. The experimental group showed a significantly greater improvement in the overall quality of written texts —mainly expository—and in metacognitive writing skills, primarily in self-regulation.
