Imprinting: A Variable in Script Analysis

Pages 110-115 | Published online: 28 Dec 2017

Abstract

A variable in script analysis is prenatal, intrauterine imprinting in the cellular memory. As early as ever the first trimester of pregnancy, attitudes of the Parent, facts from the Adult, and feelings aroused in the Child of the mother convey nonverbal messages to the fetus.

At birth, level-two imprinting begins, and includes messages from the members of the medical team and from family and friends, by way of body language. When the child develops a vocabulary, the imprinting is reactivated by words that fit the cellular memories.

Ignoring the variable of prenatal imprinting can keep a person script-bound.
