Abstract
This article continues a discussion about the epistemology of transactional analysis (Gobes, 1990; Loria, 1990a, 1990b) by comparing some of the prevailing notions of objective reality with Humberto Maturana's theory of structure determinism (Maturana & Varela, 1987). An overview of radical constructivism and structure determinism is offered along with a discussion of the influence of these theories on our understanding of human functioning, emotions, and transactional analysis. An application of some of these tenets to script analysis is offered. It provides perturbations to readers' certainties about the world and seeks to stimulate a hermeneutic discussion.
