Abstract
This article describes teacher training workshops that are designed to enhance understanding and awareness among various cultural groups in the United States. When racial/ethnic insults or sexism occurs, problems become more intense and difficult to resolve. This article outlines how the dynamics of denial involved in racism and sexism are similar; for the purposes of this article, they are defined as differential treatment (that is, subordination) of one group over another based on sex or race.
