The Difference Between Holistic Osteopathic Practice and Manipulation

Pages 67-79 | Published online: 06 Jul 2009

Abstract

Osteopathic treatment is sometimes assumed to be synonymous with manipulation. By referring to some of the methodological difficulties involved in the construction of trials of manipulation for the treatment of low back pain, as well as the practical and philosophical aspects of osteopathic patient management, this paper attempts to outline some of the differences between holistic osteopathic practice and manipulation.
