Conflict of interest The author was a participant in the 2001 STRAW and an invited participant (declined for personal reasons) in STRAW + 10. He is a co-investigator in one of the major cohort studies of reproductive aging (The Melbourne Women's Midlife Health Project) and has been involved in a variety of collaborative studies on the endocrinology of the menopause transition. This work was recognized by the North American Menopause Society in its Perimenopause Research Award (2000).
