• TWNT Het is van belang te noteren dat CYRILLUS VAN ALEXANDRIË (cfr. KITTEL sv. περιστερά) het offer van de duif als voorafbeelding ziet van de dood van Christus. Reeds in zijn Glaphyra in Gen. (PG. 69, 127–128) had hij de offergezindheid van Christus met die van de tortel en de duif vergeleken. Vermits Christus de taak van Israël zal overnemen en zelf het nieuwe Israël tot stand brengt, vinden wij hier dus een bevestiging van onze theorie zoals verder zal blijken.
