- Revised version of a working paper presented in a Seminar in June 1969 (New Delhi) arranged for the American Scholars of Foreign Policy Association (USA) who were on a tour studying modernization in India. The material for this paper is taken mainly from my Ph. D. thesis entitled “A Delhi Village in Transition: study of changing family, caste and power pattern”, (Unpublished 1969), University of Delhi (India).
