- Eam The meaning is not clear. appears to refer to the chart rather than to the presence of Aloisius in court

- Throughout the document the original punctuation has been modernized, the original spelling preserved, save that I have employed the initial ‘v’ and the medial ‘u’. The registrar committed a number of errors in drafting the process, and he at once corrected them, crossing out the original wrong words or phrases. I have not reproduced his original blunders

- As this clause stands, the meaning of eam is ambiguous. But an alteration in the registrar's draft shows without any doubt that the pronoun refers to the presence of Aloisius. Hunt originally wrote eius presentiam, and then crossed this out and inserted eam alone
- In the text, the word contencio has been inserted above the word lis.
- Neither the registrar's seal nor his signature appears on this MS., which he seems to have drafted on the basis of notes drawn up by one of his assistants. From this draft a copy, which he did seal and sign, was probably made for Diogo Homem to take away as an authenticated process. Hence it is that the Record Office MS. is not authenticated
