  • William Scoresby Another vessel built at Beverley by Cook, Welton and Gemmell and fitted with engines built by Amos and Smith also had strong links with the region. She was the Royal Research Ship launched in December 1925. She was built along the lines of a whale catcher and during the next 12 years made eight cruises in Antarctic waters during which more than 5,000 whales were marked.
