From the style of the line drawings, and from the fact that he was reported to have already done some work for, Philip Oke was almost certainly the author, using the pen-name Quadrant, of two articles (on a Plymouth sailing trawler and a Tamar ‘inside’ sailing barge) in the December 1934 and March 1935 issues of that journal. These pieces were in the same format as, and presented as a continuation of, the series started by W. M. Blake in 1932
