- Here we adopt the convention that the smectic H phase is more ordered than the SmG phase, because the heat capacity anomaly between the SmI* or SmF phase and its lower temperature phase in HOBACPC and HBHA, respectively, is similar to the SmI‐SmG transition in 2M4P9OBC. Consequently we use the SmG* or SmG phase to represent the phase below SmI* or SmF phase in HOBACPC or HBHA, respectively
