With a Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University, Mr. Gettleman specializes in the history of American radicalism and reform. His Dorr Rebellion: A Study in American Radicalism, 1833–1849 will be published by Random House in the spring. Professor Gettleman has been awarded an National Endowment for the Humanities postdoctoral Fellowship for 1973–1974.
