Amongst other examples, Helen Wood cites the case of 'Anthony Melinkas, a 68-year old professor of an at Columbus, Ohio' who had stolen leaves from a fourteenth-century manuscript from the Vatican Library. The head of the library had 'granted him many privileges, including free run of the library during its closure periods'.
