  • Crystals of (3) are monoclinic, space group P21/c, a = 12.713, b = 11.899, c = 16.290Å; α = 90.00, β = 108.32, γ = 90.00°; Z = 4. Data were collected on a Nonius CAD -4 four-circle diffractometer (C.S.I.R., Pretoria), with graphite monochromated Mo-Kα radiation in the range 3 < θ < 25°. The structure was solved by direct methods with the SHELX-76 programme (G.M. Sheldrick, University of Cambridge, 1976), using 1455 Lp-corrected, but not absorption corrected, reflections having I < 4[sgrave](I). All non-hydrogen atoms were assigned anisotropic temperature factors and their positons refined using full matrix least squares techniques. The hydrogen atoms were placed in calculated positions and included in the final refinement which converged at R = 0.0549.
