• Mao's views were put forward in the shape of an article by Ku-Kang Liu Spiral Waves of Growth Ta-Kung Pao 1961 June 2 republished in Far Eastern Economic Review, 12 October 1961. It is perhaps, ironical, that Bukharin himself became very interested in ‘spirals’ and ‘coiled springs’ as possible paths to socialist development.
